Goals from Republic of Ireland internationals Claire O'Riordan and Nicola Sinnott were enough for Wexford Youths to see off the challenge of Cork City at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday night.

 

Youths moved four points clear of Peamount United at the top of the Women's National League desspite a late fightback that saw Clare Shine halve the deficit for City with 20 minutes remaining.

 

There were barely 30 seconds on the clock when O'Riordan broke the deadlock, sending a bobbling shot over Amanda Budden from Sinnott's right-wing cross.

 

And Sinnott made it 2-0 six minutes later with a spectacular bicycle kick after City had failed to adequately deal with a corner from the left.

 

Shine pulled one back for the Leesiders, latching onto a terrific ball over the top from Saoirse Noonan, but it wasn't enough as the home side held on for a precious three points.
