St Patrick's Athletic have announced the signature of Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Skowron following the departure of Conor O'Malley to Peterborough United.

O'Malley put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the English League One side on Monday and the Saints have moved quickly to fill the gap with an experienced replacement.

26-year-old Skowron is a former player of Portuguese second division side S.C Olhanense, Cypriots AEL Limassol and Arka Gdynia in his native country.

Liam Buckley expressed his delight after announcing the deal and is looking forward to the competition between Skowron and Barry Murphy.

“We’re really pleased to add Lukasz to our group,” Buckley told the club's official website.

“He has played top flight football in the Polish league and has also spent spells in Cyprus and Portugal.

“We are looking forward to him competing with Barry Murphy for the number one jersey”

Pats currently lie in eighth place on 27 points in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division, just ahead of Finn Harps on goal difference as they attempt to climb away from the relegation battle.
