League of Ireland clubs on alert as St Johnstone transfer-list former Dundalk striker David McMillanFri, Jan 25 2019
St Johnstone have made former Dundalk and Sligo Rovers striker David McMillan available for transfer after he fell down the pecking order at McDiarmid Park.
The Lilywhites will be one of several Premier Division clubs interested in facilitating the 30-year-old’s return to Ireland, with Shamrock Rovers and Cork City also in the market for a goalscorer.
Manager Tommy Wright confirmed the Scottish Premiership club are willing to listen to offers for the Templeogue man, who was omitted from the squad that beat Livingston 1-0 on Wednesday.
Trained architect McMillan began the season as first-choice striker and started the first five games, scoring twice.
The striker has since spent more time on the bench than off it, and the return of Michael O’Halloran from Melbourne City looks set to limit his opportunities further.
The striker has made 23 appearance in total over an injury-hit 12 months in Perth, scoring five goals, but will look to move on for regular gametime.
"In terms of players leaving [we've] made David McMillan available,” former Northern Ireland manager Tommy Wright told the club’s official website.
"David's been a little bit unfortunate with a few injuries in his time here but with the arrival of Mikey his playing time is going to be even more limited.”
